From Naples we travel by coach to Pompei, Sorrento and the Amalfi coast. We visit the island of Capri and enjoy a peaceful day wandering through the streets and shops of Capri and Anacapri. On the 4th day we sail to Catania in Sicily. We’ll travel by coach to Vererina at the base of Mount Etna to stay at the Villa Murgo and visit the ancient cities of Taormina, Siracusa and the edge of the crater of Mount Etna. We taste the wines of Barone di Villagrande and “Murgo Brut” at Emanuele Scammacca Barone Del Murgo. Dining at small seaside restaurants we will sample the best that the region has to offer.
Travelling west through the central plain to Agira and then to Enna to stay in the highest mountain village in Sicily. From the seaside village at Castellammare del Golfo we visit the ancient Greek ruins at Segesta. From the salt flats of Trapani to Erice a most ancient city of the sky, to the sophisticated Marsala with it’s famous restaurants and wines, we’ll lunch at Donnafugata one of Sicily’s greatest wine producers. Then back to Naples for one last grand meal at Ristorante TransAtlantico at the old port of Santa Lucia before returning to Toronto.
